Are you ready to make beautiful botanical inspired prints?
As the weather gets warmer it’s time for one of our favourite workshops: The Botanical Workshop - Spring themed! We will delve into the world of Riso printing, combining the lively spring vibes together with your imagination. Our workshop is designed to be a perfect blend of learning and fun, offering you the opportunity to:
Gather Inspiration: Collect a kaleidoscope of flowers, plants or printed examples that capture the essence of the season. At the studio we will also have a nice selection for you to use!
Drawing Exercises: Engage in drawing exercises that will help you channel your inspiration onto paper. Using different materials, we will focus on capturing details and textures of plants, from their leaves and stems to their intricate flowers and seed pods. You'll learn the techniques for shading, blending, and creating different values and tones, as well as how to create a composition that is visually appealing.
Scan your finds! Make exciting textures by scanning leaves and your finds directly onto the riso printer to create extra exciting layers!
In addition to creating botanical drawings, you'll also have the opportunity to learn about the RISO machine and how it can be used to make unique prints. You'll create a fun composition or illustration that you can print and take home.
After you sign up, you will get an email with instructions and some handy tips to get started at home.
At the studio: we will start with an introduction to the RISO printer and how it works, followed by an experimental print to understand how pencil will translate to riso. From there we will look at the plants we want to draw and with guided exercises, get into drawing our plants.
Afterwards you will time to finish your designs and start printing!
You get to take home: 2 small prints (A5) or 1 big (A4) print!
You will get to print your design in two colours and take up to 15 copies home.
