Color Mixing Course!
Are you looking to take your riso designs to the next level? Our master colour mixing course is just what you need! We are going into the fundamentals of risograph printing: working with colour.
In these two evenings we will go into the specifics of riso ink and how to mix colours efficiently. We'll also explore the key factors to consider when designing for riso printing, so you can ensure your end result is what you envisioned.
But this course isn't just about theory – you'll also get hands-on experience with a series of assignments that allow you to put your new knowledge into practice. By the end of the course, you'll have printed multiple works using the techniques you've learned, giving you the confidence to take on even more ambitious projects.
How is the course set up?
To make the most of our colour mixing course, participants should come prepared with either an iPad with drawing software or a laptop with Photoshop (or another program that they feel comfortable using). Before the course starts, we'll provide you with information on how to prepare and get ready, so you can feel confident and ready to dive in from day one.
July 9th - Riso inks & Colour Theory
The workshop starts with an overview of the risograph printer and its inks. What to keep in mind when printing with multiple inks and how to achieve the colours you want.
We will then dive into colour charts so you can make your own.
You will print your first design!
You will get an assignment and handouts so you can start playing at home with the images of your choosing and prepare for the 2nd week.
July 16th - Files & Printing
In this second evening we will have time to look at your files and answer any questions you might have.
We will look at the order in which we print colours and their effect on your design.
You get to print with up to 3 riso colours!
Why this course?
At Riso Pop, we're known for our one-off workshops that provide a great introduction to risograph printing. However, we wanted to offer something more – a longer course that allows for a more intimate and hands-on approach to the printing experience. That's why we're excited to offer our master colour mixing course.
As an illustrator myself, I know that colour is key and it can make or break an illustration. And when using riso, we are even more constrained to the colours provided to us. During this two day course, you'll learn about the fundamentals of colour mixing theory and how to create balanced, visually striking riso prints.
By spending more time at the studio, you'll have the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the printing experience and receive personalized feedback on your work.
This is also why this will be a small course with max 5 participants.
