Joiin us for an exciting two-day course where you'll be immersed in the entire process of creating, printing, and binding your very own self-made booklet. Throughout the workshop, you'll have the opportunity to design four pages of a collaborative zine, contributing to a fantastic anthology of riso works!

What will you learn in this 2 day workshop?
Introduction to riso printing for publications,
Tips and Tricks on storytelling - how to plan your spread
Design and composition of book pages,
Preparing files to print with riso (max 2 colours)
How to collate a booklet or zine
Preparing and planning the printing of a booklet or zine with riso
Riso Printing process
Hand stitch binding.
One of the highlights of this course is that participants will also learn Japanese binding. You'll discover the elegant and intricate techniques used to bind books in the Japanese style, adding a touch of sophistication and uniqueness to your zine.
An overview of the workshop:
Prepping at home
Before the workshop weekend you will receive a handout introducing the workshop. Here we will give you ideas and guidelines on how to develop your illustrations/designs. You will be asked to work on this at home to make the most of the time at the studio for riso printing.
Day 1 - Friday 18th
On Day 1 you will get an introduction to riso printing, and we will look at your files to make sure everything is ready to set up our printing files. We will talk about colours as well as details in the book. The plan is to start printing by the end of the workshop!
Day 2 - Saturday 19th
On day 2 we will continue printing. And as everything dries, you will get an introduction to book binding. Once everything is ready, we can start the folding & binding process!
