In this course we will go outside and take in the sights, explore our surroundings visually and translate it into a fun, collaborative, handbound zine.
In this course we invite you to share your view and perspective on the city and your surroundings in a collaborative zine. You will learn techniques on how to visually explore your surroundings through mediums like photography and illustration while we go outside and collect like the artistic scavengers we all are at heart.
Once back at the studio we’ll show how you can manipulate and play with your gathered photos or illustrations to create an exciting composition on a big, two page spread.
After an introduction to Riso we’ll be printing as well as binding a two colour zine with all the works from the course attendees. Our final product will be a 21 page long zine that you will get to take home!
Photoshop or Procreate are mandatory for this course.

An overview of the 2 days:
Day 1 - Sat 14th of May - from 10am to 4pm (lunch break included)
On our first day together you will get an introduction to the project and we’ll decide on the theme of our zine. With these instructions, you will go out and explore our neighbourhood with the help of fun and interesting prompts, using sketching or photography (using your phone is also great!).
Back at the studio we will look at composition and select images that will work for your spread. We will work on duotone separation for riso.
We will end the the day with your spread finished and ready to print the first side of our zine!
Day 2 - Sun 15th of May - from 10am to 4pm (lunch break included)
On Sunday, we meet again at the studio ready to print side 2! You will be part of the printing process and you will be able to see our zine finished. A hand binding tutorial will be provided so you can bind your zines to take home! But before you go home, we will have a little celebration drink!
Photoshop or similar image softwares are required so you can manipulate your images and place them in a two side spread composition.
