Riso Pop has been invited to give a zine printing workshop at The Work Shop in Houten (close to Utrecht) - this will be a 2 day workshop where you will learn about riso printing as well as book binding!
This workshop is given together with my printmaker colleague Alette de Roos.
The aim of the workshop is to create an “Art Zine” , this is a small self-published book and we will make it complete with the collaboration of all participants!
Day 1 - August 6th - Making your Riso Design
On this first part of the course you will get an introduction to riso printing, see multiple examples and then work on your two colour page for the art zine! This can be: a drawing, collage, text etc.
You will learn about composition and how we crate the layout for printing.
Once you have finished we will take the designs with us, set up the book layout and print at the studio in Amsterdam.
Day 2 - August 20th - Book Binding
We meet back at The Work Shop where you wil receive 5 copies of the art zine. We will now learn to cut and bind the zines featuring different techniques. You can master one binding technique or try different ones.
You take home:
5 art zines including not only your work, but that of all the other workshop participants.
A starter kit to continue book binding at home,
Templates of different styles of stitching.
