This print is a first of a series of 5 illustrations following the Aztec legend of the 5 suns. During the first sun there were giants,. clumsy ones. Quetzalcoatl unhappy with this creation, pushed the god Tezcatlipoca into magical waters transforming him into a mighty jaguar. Enraged, his earthquakes and army of jaguars destroyed this first world.
