This workshop is for those who would like to learn how to translate their digital illustrations to riso prints. You will learn how to create an illustration that will take the maximum advantage of riso printing, and also how to work on your files to make them ready for print.
We will also talk about texture options that the risograph provides.
Note: we will not be looking at CMYK or faux CMYK - that is another workshop :)
How will the workshop look like?
50/50 Home & Studio
Part I: Introduction & 2 different ways of preparing your files for riso.
Before the course starts, you will receive a PDF handout as well as pre recorded videos, where I will share my screen and guide you through the steps of creating an illustration/design specifically for riso.
I will show you:
my tips & tricks,
what to keep an eye on,
working on your files and transforming them into the proper output for the riso printer.
You then get a week to work on your design & ask for feedback.
Part II: Let’s meet at the studio and print!
At the studio, you will get to see the machine in person and print your design on A3 format. You will get to handle the machine yourself!
We close off by show off everybody's work!
What can you expect from this workshop?
You will be creating a new piece (or re-creating work that you already have) to print a 2 or 3 colour A3 riso print!
We can discuss your design through mail or at the studio,
You will also get access to the workshop page, as well as receive a handout, so you can have the information for future reference.
Important: Participants should have photoshop installed (or another digital drawing programme that can export to PDF). If using an iPad Pro the app Procreate is recommended.
