Join me,  Aafke (illustrator & riso fanatic) and Alette (graphic designer & print maker) during this 4 week course on how to make your own self-published little book (also known as zine)!

This course will guide you step by step into creating a small batch of your self-published zines. It is aimed at those who like to be involved in the whole process of creating a hand-made product. 

At the end of these 4 weeks you will: 

• Know how to plan and develop a zine,

• Create a layout ready to print, 

• Print with the risograph, 

• Hand-stitch your zine and have a beautiful end product.

All materials are included to fold & bind as well as high quality paper and printing with the Risograph.

Costs: €320.-

These costs include:

• 4 day course - Two full days & two half days of learning and making.

• All materials included to create either a 8 or a 16 page zine.

• Access to the riso printer as well as learning how to work with it.

• Printing a 2 colour double sided run of 10 zines.

• Design template, advice and tips.

• Materials and learning how to hand-stitch.

• Drinks & snacks.

(It is also possible to do the payment in two instalments - you do 50% now and then pay the rest later)

Dates & Programme

May 2nd - We start this saturday afternoon with an introduction to riso printing and we start working on your 1st draft. 

May 9th - This day is all about layout and getting your work ready to print. 

You then have an extra week to work on your zine and finish your layout so it’s ready to print. 

May 22nd/23rd - This weekend (Friday & Saturday) will be devoted to printing. You will get a schedule from which you can choose time-slots to come and print. 

May 30th - For our last day together, you’ll add the finishing touches, and will learn how to hand-stitch your zine. We will close off our course with celebratory drinks and share each other's work!

Extra info:

• Participants should have their own laptop and photoshop installed (or another digital drawing programme that can export to PDF). If using an iPad Pro the app Procreate is recommended.

• You will go home with a set of 10 zines. If you’d like more, you can always bring your own paper or purchase some extra from the studio.

• The workshop can be given in both English & Dutch.
